Whippletree Workshop, 2025 settler's line, Otonabee-South Monaghan, Ontario

The workshop for Whippletree Timber Framing is on the farm of Bill and Gertrud McMaster, the building was previously a farm equipment building, a cheese factory, and a sheep barn. After moving tools, timbers, sawmill and tractor into the building and yard in 2009, We set to work to build our dream shop.

The workshop has a layer of spray foam insulation on the exterior, with a little of the original paint still holding on.

A timbered door was designed and built, with the help of a Framing Class, during winter 09/10

Timbers for the door were primarily hemlock, with a few pine braces.

Thanks to the wonder of spray foam insulation,
we began building frames and teaching classes in January.

The workshop is 4,000 square feet, giving us room to lay out long top plates.
These timbers will be top plates for the Hunt frame, near Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
