The Vegter Staircase, for a home near Burliegh Falls, Ontario, was built entirely from recycled barn timbers, and features cantilevered treads on a central heavy timber stringer. The staircase was a work of love, taking some months to complete and incorporating many unique details.
The treads are mortise and tenoned to the stringer, with hardwood laminated to the tenon for strength, and a low angle brace.
