Helen's house frame was built in 1989, with many of the timbers used as demonstration pieces at Lang Pioneer Village. This project was cut primarily by hand tools, including the squaring of the timbers, done primarily with the broadaxe. The plan is a classic one and one half storey with a foot print of 24ft X 36ft. Timbers used include: Pine, hemlock, spruce, cedar, poplar, oak, cherry, maple, elm and ash. The top plates and the purlin plates are all full length at 36 ft long.
